AQIS Preferred Supplier - Termite Detection Services
AQIS (Australian Quarantine &
Inspection Service) is part of the Australian Government
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF)
and it manages quarantine controls at our borders to
minimise the risk of exotic pests and diseases entering
Australia. AQIS also provides import and export
inspection and certification to help retain Australia's
highly favourable animal, plant and human health status
and wide access to overseas export markets.
AQIS is greatly concerned with Termites and with the
introduction of new termite species into Australia.
They can infest boats if the vessel has visited countries
where exotic species of these termites occur. Boats
have an appropriate food source (timber) and perfect
conditions for pest infestation via damage or other
openings in the vessel structure or fittings. Exotic
timber pests can also infest vessels if brought aboard
in infested timber during refits or refurbishments.
